Dr Wannesson spent 6 months in the clinic in 2012 and was fully involved in the assessment of lung cancer patients. During his time with us Dr Wannesson also collaborated closely with the laboratory team on a project in small-cell lung cancer, looking at genetic aberrations with cancer-driving or predictive/prognostic implications.

Dra. Laura Bonanno

Dra. Laura Bonanno

Medical Oncologist

Istituto Oncologico Veneto IRCCS, Padua, Italy

[return]
Dr. Bonanno spent 6 months in our laboratory working in close collaboration with staff on the analyses of mRNA expression levels of DNA reapair components as potential predictive markers in a population of 115 advanced non-small-cell lung cancer patients treated with first-line platinum-based treatment. Dr Bonanno’s work has subsequently formed the basis of presentations at international congresses and a manuscript for publication. Collaboration between the two institutions is ongoing.

Chest Physician

Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, The Netherlands

[return] Dr. Van Den Heuvel joined us to work in the laboratory for 3 months in 2011, during which time he developed extensive tumor profiling to enable clinicians to determine the optimal post-operative adjuvant treatment regimen. He developed a protocol for the TRACE trial based on risk classification for tumor progression/recurrence which could be used to identify patients in need for adjuvant treatment. Collaboration between the two institutions on this project is ongoing.
