Barcelona, 10th December 2014 - Dr Rafael Rosell has been named one of the five best oncologists in Spain, according to a MERCO survey of over 2000 experts. What is more, his numerous contributions to medical and translational oncology in the field of lung cancer make him one of the few experts in this disease to feature among the top five.



Dr Rosell holds numerous prizes awarded in recognition of his tireless work to advance cancer treatment and is one of the most highly-regarded members of the international scientific community. He is a founding member of several lung cancer collaborative groups, such as the Spanish Lung Cancer Group (SLCG) and the European Thoracic Oncology Platform (ETOP).



He is Head of the Medical Oncology Service, Instituto Oncológico Dr Rosell (IOR), Quirón Dexeus University Hospital, Barcelona. IOR specializes in providing personalized cancer treatment informed by genetic analyses. In the same study, the Quirón Dexeus hospital was listed among the 11 best private hospitals in Spain.



The I Monitor de Reputación Sanitaria was prepared by the Business Monitor of Corporate Reputation (MERCO), Spain. According to Technical Director José María San Segundo the report was prepared by an advisory council which set evaluation criteria and ensured independence and rigor in preparation and execution of the study. The council is made up of the presidents of general councils of doctors, nurses and patient associations, medical journalists and renowned figures with a proven track record in Spanish healthcare management.
