Dr Rafael Rosell awarded Josep Trueta Medal and Plaque by the Autonomous Government of Catalonia

Barcelona, October 2013 - The numerous contributions of Dr Rafael Rosell to the field of translational medical oncology throughout his long career have been recognized by the autonomous Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia with the Josep Trueta Medal and Plaque for Merit in Healthcare. The Medal and Plaque are named in honor of Dr Josep Trueta, a physician and surgeon and leading light in Catalan medicine for his work during the Spanish Civil War and World War II.



Dr Rosell is one of seven eminent Catalan doctors recognized by the Catalan Government this year for their outstanding contributions to the fields of medicine, nursing and pharmacy. The award ceremony took place on October 2 at the Palace of the Generalitat in Barcelona.



Dr Rafael Rosell is Head of the Medical Oncology Service, Dr Rosell Oncology Institute, Quirón Dexeus University Hospital, Barcelona; Head of the Medical Oncology Service, Catalan Institute of Oncology, Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol, Badalona (Barcelona), President and Founder of the Molecular Oncology Research Foundation (MORe), President and Chief Scientific Officer of Pangaea Biotech S.L, Chairman and Founder of the Spanish Lung Cancer Group.
